#InsideOut

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I should be optimizing for, considering a multitude of things such as my age, geographic location, and current fascinations. I find myself increasingly interested in the idea of cultivating a proprietary knowledge base and proprietary skillset, which I define as anything that can relate to one’s unique insight about something that has the potential to become defensible – which I intentionally left ambiguous.

Though, I don’t know where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing in the next couple of years, I do know that I want to 1. be able to have thoughtful opinions about what the future may look like and 2. be able to meet incredible founders building non-obvious solutions to problems that will be massive someday.

Because of this, I’ve decided to launch a podcast called #InsideOut where I’ll have candid conversations with early-stage founders and investors shaping the future. I plan for the talks to be structured around particular domains, as well as the speaker, and hopefully the audience.

Why Though?

☝🏽 This is true to some extent. From my experience, there are a plethora of podcast, a bunch specifically dedicated to Q+As with founders and VCs. However, I’ve noticed that a substantial amount of interview series that I’ve come across solely focus on interviewing already relatively well known and established people. I plan to speak with clever people who aren’t hugely well known or established, people shaping the future quietly.

As of this moment, I’m building out a list of early-stage founders and investors that I’d love to chat with so feel free to make a suggestion or two, and it’s best to ping me on Twitter @dewayneroyj 😃

The first guest + event details will be announced soon (late Dec - early Jan), so if you’re into productivity tools or want to engage with a VC-backed founder, stay tuned. 😉
